A national centre in advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing – led by the University of Strathclyde – has been joined by a major partner.

CMAC, which accelerates the adoption of continuous manufacturing for the production of high-value chemical products to higher quality, at lower cost and more sustainably, announced the partnership with DEM Solutions. As a tier two industry partner, DEM Solutions will provide its EDEM software to integrate into CMAC’s research programme.

Craig Johnston, CMAC’s Industrial Director, said, ‘We are pleased to welcome DEM Solutions as new tier two industry partner.

‘Simulation and modelling tools are key to accelerate development and optimise the design and operation of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

‘EDEM software will give us a new and fundamental insight into the properties of crystalline materials and their behaviour during processing. EDEM will be integrated into our existing in-house digital workflows providing non-DEM-experts with easy access to models and functionality in support of their research.’
