Pharmacy Voice has published a summary of its response to the government proposals for community pharmacy in England.

Pharmacy Voice (PV), of which the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) is a founding member, responded to the government’s proposals set out in the Department of Health’s (DH) letter of 17th December, Community Pharmacy 2016/17 and beyond’.

Reflecting the combined views of the NPA, the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp) and the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA), the PV response considers the consequences of the funding cuts and offers alternative proposals for change. It lays out the specific action points needed from the government, DH and the NHS to achieve a shared vision of the future of community pharmacy as a fully integrated part of the NHS.

A useful two-page summary of the PV response is available which can help members to inform pharmacy team members about the government proposals and the implications for their pharmacy business. It can also be used to aid discussions with members of the public about the future of community pharmacy within local communities throughout England.

Full details of the NPA campaign to secure the future for independents, including ways in which members can get involved, are available on the NPA website. The government proposals can be viewed on the GOV.UK website.
