Health Minister Alistair Burt has suggested that thousands of high street pharmacies across England are at risk of closure as a result of funding cuts.

High street pharmacies face a £170 million decrease in October as a result of Ministers claiming that they aren’t doing enough to deliver NHS efficiencies.

On a whole, local pharmacies presently depend on the NHS for 90 per cent of their income with each pharmacy receiving £220,000, on average.

Outrage has been sparked, with critics claiming that the action will simply ply more pressure on GPs and A&E departments.
